The ministry options in Guatemala are endless. Everyone in our group, no matter how young or not so young, can use his or her talents to make a difference. Our local Guatemalan partners have vision, passion, and ongoing ministries in their communities that will inspire our mission team as we serve with them this year. From food distribution to community outreach and children's ministry, our mission team will have the opportunity to be an integral part of a vibrant and sustainable ministry in Guatemala.
Almost 15 million people live in Guatemala, a diverse country with 14 ecosystems. The former home of Mayan civilization, the country sits just south of Mexico in Central America. In addition to diverse people and natural beauty, the country boasts a growing Church, and you can be part of making disciples for Jesus when you join the Guatemala mission team.
The ancient Mayan civilization covered much of Central America, including Guatemala. This influence is still present today, from tribal languages to Mayan ruins. Much of the native population was wiped out when Spanish colonists arrived, and Spain ruled the area for approximately 300 years. Guatemala gained independence on September 15, 1821.
Who we will be partnering with:
Praying Pelican Missions (www.prayingpelicanmissions.org) is a short-term international missions organization serving the needs of indigenous local churches, pastors, and communities around the world. Our team will be working alongside people that live and work in the community; know the people, language and how to do ministry effectively and safely. Our team will be joining in the work that God is already doing.
