Growth Track

I WANT TO ENCOURAGE ALL OUR HOME GROUP LEADERS TO ATTEND OUR GROWTH TRACK.

Joy

In this first week of our advent series we want to help people understand the joy that comes from God coming to Earth in the form of man to save the world. We live in a world that searches for happiness but neglects to find joy. Take some time during this session to hear from your people about what brings them joy and what are things standing in their way of experiencing God’s joy this Christmas.

Ultimate joy is found in Christ Jesus. Jesus changes everything for us. When our view of the world changes from a me first mindset to a Kingdom first mindset then the trouble of this world can fade away. We can experience true joy that can never be taken away. Because our joy is found in heaven above and not on more things that life have to offer. Plus, our greatest need of salvation is taken care of in Christ.

Will we be people who are looking for joy in the next box to be opened for Christmas or will we find Joy in the King that has come? Encourage your people to sit back and account all that they have to be joyful for this Christmas.

SCRIPTURE READING

SCRIPTURE DISCUSSION

What stands out in this Old Testament Prophecy? What can we take away and learn from it?

Compare Romans 10:15 to Isaiah 52:7. In what ways do you understand the gospel to be “good news”?

OBSERVATION

We see in Romans 10 that this good news is for all people. How do we show this news to others in our life? Do you do a good job at this normally?

Application

What different results would you expect from living out either of the following statements?

1. Seeking happiness to please yourself at all cost.

2. God wants us to seek joy in Him.
What are some choices we can make that will enhance our joy
What are choices that will destroy our joy?
What are things happening in my life right now that cause joy or sorrow?

PRAYER

Take time to pray for those walking through difficult times right now. Ask that God would remind us of His Joy and that we would be fulfilled in it.

Children Teaching Element

Have this conversation with the adults in your group on how to teach joy to your children?

How do we teach God’s joy over happiness that comes from gifts this Christmas?

How do you talk to you children who are dealing with sorrow? How do we point them to Jesus?
