John 7:11-31

Jesus arrives at the Festival of Tabernacles and begins to teach in the temple courts. The whole city of Jerusalem is talking about Jesus because the religious leaders are looking to kill him. Yet it is his teaching that amazes them. In the middle of his lesson Jesus accuses the religious leaders of trying to kill him and in doing so breaking the Law. This action does not go over well with the religious leaders, but Jesus is on a roll, he continues and points out their hypocrisy. He says you are trying to kill me for healing a man on the Sabbath, yet you will circumcise a boy on the same. At the end of the discussion many try to arrest Jesus, but some have heard the Words of Life and place their trust in Jesus. The main thought from this passage is found in verse 17. Pay close attention, the only way we can know that Jesus’ teachings are true is by doing the will of God. We can’t simply think that what Jesus says is true we need to live it out.
